Technical Bulletin MC427759 · Published Sep 8, 2022

Message Summary

Since launchingapps in scheduled meetings, Microsoft Teams app developers have wanted to build similar experiences for Teams calls that enhance user productivity. Examples of collaborating in an ad-hoc group call include, collecting and acting on information, discussing and ideating, organizing and tracking, making decisions, and more.

If you already have a meetings app in Teams, we will be rolling out a new feature that will enable it to automatically start working in Teams Group VoIP calls. Alternatively, you can easily start building an app for Teams meetings and calls. We apologize for the delay of this notice and any inconveniences this may cause.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 96189

When this will happen:

Preview: We have rolled this out already in preview. The blogpost has detailed information about the release.

Standard Release: We expect to begin rolling out in late August and expect to complete rollout by mid-September.

How this will affect your organization:

All the familiar functionalities of meeting apps – tabs, bots, in-meeting dialogue, and meeting stage – will be supported in Teams VOIP Calls. Users of your apps will enjoy the same familiar app experience as seen in Teams Meetings, in their Teams VOIP Calls.

What you need to do to prepare:

There is nothing you need to do to prepare for this change. You may want to notify your users about this change and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
