Message Summary

People Card will now include a Medium state. This allows authors to input a 50-character description accompanying each person’s thumbnail image.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 98127

When this will happen:

Targeted Release: This update will rollout beginning in early September is expected to complete rollout by early October.

GA: This update will begin rollout in early October and is expected to complete rollout by late October.

How this will affect your organization:

When a People Card is published, the character count accompanying a person’s thumbnail image will disappear. The Medium and Large Cards remain white and boxed in, whereas the small card take on the background color of the section.

Note: The Medium and Large cards were previously named Compact and Descriptive, respectively, but have been changed for clarity.

When you toggle between the Medium and Large card layouts, your description text is preserved until it is edited. This may mean that in the Medium card, your blurb has more characters than can be displayed. This will be indicated at the bottom of the Medium card. If you edit the Medium card, you have now changed the text.

What you need to do to prepare:

You do not need to do anything to prepare for this update, but you may want to let your users know about this improvement.
