We’re introducing a new capability to enable admins to configure label inheritance between files and emails.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 100158.

When this will happen:

Rollout to public preview will begin in late February and is expected to be complete by mid-March.

Rollout to general availability will begin in late March and is expected to be complete by end of April.

How this will affect your organization:

With this update, admins can use the Microsoft Purview compliance portal to configure sensitivity label policies to inherit labels from attachments to email messages. 

What you need to do to prepare:

No action is needed to enable this feature.
