Message Summary

If you manage your devices on premises with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Configuration Manager, plan to update your Windows 11, version 22H2 devices using the Unified Update Platform (UUP) quality updates, starting March 28. The much-improved default experience comes with a sizeable initial download to distribution points to set the stage for small and easy updates going forward. Learn about the benefits and your readiness for this servicing transition in Get ready for the first UUP on premises updates coming in March.

When will this happen:

March 28th, 2023.

How this will affect your organization:

If your organization uses Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Configuration Manager to manage updates on premises, you will transition to servicing Windows 11, version 22H2 with Unified Update Platform (UUP). You’ll see a one-time increase in the initial download to distribution points and a reduced size of endpoint client downloads going forward. You’ll also experience several improvements to quality and feature updates, including faster and smaller downloads.

What you need to do to prepare:

Please plan for a 10GB initial download to distribution points per architecture (AMD64 and ARM64) in preparation for the March 28th update. For WSUS users, please apply the upcoming February and March updates promptly to ensure your readiness. And if you haven’t yet, learn about Adding file types for Unified Update Platform on premises.
