Message Summary

We are introducing a change in the way default admin passwords are managed in the configuration profiles for Android based Teams devices in Teams admin center.

Starting mid-September, 2023, we will no longer display the value of the default admin password set in the configuration profiles. This change is designed to further enhance the device security.

Note: If your organization does not utilize Android based Teams devices you can safely disregard this message.

How this will affect your organization:

Administrators using Teams admin center to manage Teams devices will see the following changes in the configuration profiles for Android based Teams devices that include Phones, Displays, Panels and Teams Rooms on Android:

  1. The value of the default admin password set in a configuration profile will no longer be visible.
  2. Admins can still utilize the setting to reset the default admin password as needed.
  3. To clear the admin password that is set on the device, admins can now select the box that reads “Clear admin default password”, save the profile, and assign to the applicable devices.
