Message Summary

SharePoint Online will begin enabling IPv6 by default for all SharePoint tenant URLs endpoints. The scope of this change includes all URLs under *.sharepoint.com including <tenant>.sharepoint.com and <tenant>-my.sharepoint.com.

When this will happen:

Beginning mid-August and completing by the end of December.

How this affects your organization:

When the change is complete SharePoint will begin advertising both AAAA and A DNS records allowing clients to connect either via IPv4 or IPv6. This dual-stack configuration is expected to be transparent with many Office 365 products already configured as such.
