Message Summary

Word, Excel, PowerPoint clients and Outlook email clients will support admin setting to have a different set of sensitivity labels.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 99939

When this will happen:

Public Preview: We will begin rolling out late February 2023 and expect to complete by mid-March 2023.

Current Channel Release: We will begin rolling out late March 2023 and expect to complete by mid-April 2023.

How this will affect your organization:

By default, no impact on your organization. If you think your organization have the needs of configure some labels only for file, and some label only for email, please leverage the set-label cmdlet, or information protection admin UX to configure. Then Word, Excel, PowerPoint will only show those labels with file scope, and Outlook will only show those labels with email scope.

What you need to do to prepare:

Please refer the Information protection admin configuration to see how you could configure this.
