Technical Bulletin MC337957 · Published Mar 3, 2022

Message Summary

To make managing the quarantine for shared mailboxes easier for users, this update will enable users who have been granted delegate access to shared mailbox, either through direct access or security group access, to triage the quarantine folder items of those mailboxes.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 88931.

When this will happen:

Standard: we will begin rolling this out in early March and expect to be complete by mid-March.

Government: we will begin rolling this out in early-April and expect to be complete by late April.

How this will affect your organization:

Previously, only quarantine scenarios of individual mailboxes were supported and those for mailboxes that are shared were not fully supported.

End users who have been granted access to shared mailboxes will now be able to triage quarantine contents of those shared mailboxes through the quarantine notification and directly from the quarantine portal.

When using the recipient address filter, users with access to shared mailboxes can use the filter to look up quarantine items for the shared mailboxes.

You might want to notify your users about this change and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
