Technical Bulletin MC692465 · Published Nov 22, 2023

Message Summary

Customers will be able to programmatically export Viva Goals data in an Explorer View via Microsoft Graph APIs. Today, customers must manually export the data in an Explorer View.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 146731

When this will happen:

Standard Release: This is currently rolling out and expected to complete by late November 2023.

How this will affect your organization:

By default, the API is not accessible without the Global Administrator’s approval (see What you need to do to prepare).

What you need to do to prepare:

Users will not be able to use the API without explicit consent from you, the Administrator. There are four controls which must all be true to access data:

  1. Users will need to get consent to the scopes (Goals-Export.Read.All or Goals-Export.ReadWrite.All).
  2. Users will need to use delegated access (on behalf of a user) to access the API for a Viva Goals Organization.
  3. Users will need access to the specific Explorer View.
  4. The Goals Organization administrator will need to have given permission for OKR export.
