Microsoft Exchange Curtain Reveal Tech Bulletin Header

From Microsoft Corporation
Technical Bulletin MC527926 · Published Mar 15, 2023

Message Summary

Over the past few months, we have turned off Basic Auth for specific protocols in Exchange Online. We are now making changes to the Admin Center to remove some redundant controls.

When this will happen:

We plan on removing most of the default Authentication Policy checkboxes and settings from the modern authentication flyout of the Admin Center in the coming weeks.

Once basic authentication has been disabled in your tenant, Authentication Policies for those protocols have no effect, so we plan on removing them to avoid possible confusion.

We will leave the Authentication Policy setting in place for SMTP AUTH, as this can still be used to enable/disable basic authentication for the SMTP protocol.

What you can do to prepare:

There’s nothing you need to do to prepare for this change, if you want to know more about the deprecation of basic authentication in Exchange Online you can read more in the link below.
