From Microsoft Corporation
Technical Bulletin MC674420 · Published Sep 8, 2023

Message Summary

Eligible Viva Engage (Yammer) networks are being automatically upgraded to native mode. If you have already received an approved exemption, that exemption is still valid for the approved date. No further exemptions are being granted.

Due to the high volume of migrations, the completion time for some automatic and self-service migrations may be longer than expected. Once notified about automatic migration, no action is required.

You may still initiate a self-service migration, if a Message Center post has not been received announcing that the network has been scheduled for automatic migration. Once you start the self-service migration, no further action is required unless specific errors are displayed.

When this will happen:

The automatic migration of networks to native mode started on December 1, 2022. Automatic migrations are expected to continue through October 2023.

We recommend that you initiate self-service migration on your own by visiting the Microsoft 365 Native Mode page within the Network Admin pages of Viva Engage (Yammer). Once the message center post has been sent for automatic migration, admins are unable to perform self-service migration.

How this will affect your organization:

Due to the high volume of migrations, the completion time for both automatic and self-service migrations is longer than expected. Completion time depends on many factors, making it difficult to provide an exact estimate of completion time. Additional capacity has been added to improve the experience.

Generation of the alignment report for self-service migrations may take longer than expected. You should wait until these are offered for download. If there is a problem downloading or opening the generated alignment, please contact Microsoft 365 support.

Review MC424414: Non-Native and Hybrid Yammer Networks are being upgraded for additional information on migration to native mode.

What you need to do to prepare:

There is no action if you would like Microsoft to initiate your automatic migration. Microsoft 365 support are unable to provide progress updates but can assist with technical problems that have occurred.

To perform a self-service migration please review the step-by-step guide to Native Mode migration. Allow additional time for alignment report generation. Microsoft 365 support can only assist once generation of the alignment report has been requested and a technical issue is preventing download.
