Technical Bulletin MC711020 · Published Jan 29, 2024

Message Summary

Outlook for web will migrate to a new appID. The existing Microsoft-owned appID used by OWA is changing in preparation for OWA’s authentication platform migration to a SPA auth model using MSAL.

When this will happen:

Standard Release: We will begin rolling out the first half of Calendar year 2024 and expect to complete by the 4th quarter of calendar year 2024.

How this will affect your organization:

What are the appIDs involved?

  • OWA existing appID: 00000002-0000-0ff1-ce00-000000000000
  • OWA new appID: 9199bf20-a13f-4107-85dc-02114787ef48

What you need to do to prepare:

No action required. This is primarily a back-end change, and we are offering this awareness as the new appID will be visible in security reports.
